I picked one up at the STL homeschool conference today. A friend said, "Why did you do that? Mine came in the mail already!" I said, "I think they have my old address and I want it NOW."
Came home from the conference and guess what was in my mailbox?
I'm too busy reading Sonlight books to write everyday. :) We're down to two computers. My husband works on one and my kids work on the other for school, myspace, facebook, etc. You know how hard our kids work, don't you.
Does Sonlight need extra workers at the Orlando convention? I'll be there from Thursday through Sunday.
PS: My daughter wants to enter the entertainment industry and I see you are a "Film Maker". She's thinking about hair, makeup and wardrobe. She can act too, but I think she'll go to school for the above. How can she get involved with the Christian film making industry?
The funny thing is, we don't even use Sonlight, but I still enjoy looking through the catalog. ;) I am thinking about ordering a few electives through them though, so then I don't have to feel bad about enjoying the catalog so much. LOL
OK, this is one of those VERY weird "small world" internet moments, so bear with me ...
I was just on Lana's blog ("Art of Joyful Home") -- a fellow "Clubfoot Mom" I have come to know on another online clubfoot support group. I checked into her blog tonight and read her post about being "poor" -- something that my family has been dealing with, and her post was uplifting. Do you remember this post?
Well, I saw that you had commented and mentioned something about a "Party Tithe." Curious, I clicked on the link you provided and read your post. Very interesting. But what was even MORE interesting -- and here it comes -- is your little bio at the end:
"Luke Holzmann is the son of John and Sarita Holzmann..."
I almost fell out of my chair. Here I sit, in Northern NJ, reading a post written by a stranger in CO ... and I know your parents!
When I was a young girl, your dad had interned at our church in NJ. I do recall they had kids, and your name rings a bell, so perhaps you were a baby then -- I was really quite young, though, so that part is all fuzzy. I remember your dad wore brightly colored shirts, and your mom had the most unusual name I had ever heard (at that time of my life, at least). WOW! This was so NOT what I expecting!
Anyway, I just couldn't resist writing and sharing this "small world" story. Pretty cool! When my kids aren't freaking out hopefully I'll have some free (and quiet!) time to read more of what you do. Until now, they need to go to bed ... and I need them to go to bed! Take care!
I know EXACTLY how she feels...I can't wait for mine! It's so exciting finding it in my mailbox! Hey, do they come alphabetically? I have to wait on the S's! :(
Hi Luke. Thank you for the nice comment on my son's Hittite Warrior review. He was pleased to know that his work was being read and that it was appreciated. Your photo with the catalog looks like me. I love the catalog and all of the homeschool family photos in it. The photos are empowering. I love the Sonlight curriculum too. It is rich and beautiful. Everything is well thought out. It seems selected with my son in mind! I am more than pleased with my purchase! I want to tell the world (and public schools) to use it!
hey, just got your comment. i'd LOVE to know your thoughts on how boys and girls should interact with each other. that is SO a passion of mine too...just didn't include it specifically in my list. dangit...already one i overlooked. :)
Hey, I want one too!!! where's mine!

ReplyDeleteStill waiting for my catalog......I think my mail carrier stole it.
ReplyDeleteI love catalogs too. And now my kids steal them and circle what they want with a marker. I wonder where they got that from?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to join the mailing list! I was on it two years ago, but we moved and the catalogs haven't followed. =0( I do love those catalogs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comments on my blog. Keeps me from feeling like I'm talking to myself! LOL
