From the Land Down Under

"He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich."

Men at Work: Land Down Under

After commenting on a string of posts by Mrs. C about her family's latest venture down Vegemite Lane, she offered to mail me some.

I, naturally, accepted. And it arrived today.

So, once we get some wheat-free bread made, we'll give this a "go" and see just how much I dislike it (all on video!). Definitely does not sound like something I would enjoy... but someone's gotta do the dirty work around here.

I love that song but I don't know that I'd be brave enough to try vegemite. I'm interested to see your reaction, especially one caught on tape!

Talk about taking me back to the glory days. *chuckle* I need to go retro and get their music again...I wish I'd never given it up the first time. LOL

Can't wait to hear what you think of Vegemite. From what I've heard it's quite the acquired taste. Rather like Nutella - but that usually wins more folks over.

Lastly - thank you for your kind, encouraging comments on my blog recently. I don't know how you found me (perhaps through my yearnings for Sonlight? lol) but you've made my day twice now. THANKS and best of luck to you and your wife on the kiddos to come!

It's September 4 ... and I bet the reason you haven't posted is that you're still fighting the gag reflex. :-)

Still haven't gotten around to making wheat-free bread for me. It's still going to happen, but you're going to need to bug my wife about it. <smile>

You might need some instructions for Vegemite...we used to see it when we lived overseas - had a lot of Aussie friends. But I've never tried it.

Instructions here:

LOL - we had some friends from Australia bring a jar with them for us to sample. Hmmm. Not so much my thing, but I could see how it could be an acquired taste. Apparently, it's supposed to be filled with lots of B-vitamins and is a comfort food over there. It's supposed to be spread VERY thinly over toast.

Thanks for visiting my little corner! Blessings to you as your family grows!

Angela, thanks for the link. With my wheat sensitivity, I haven't had a chance to get some bread to do it. But I plan to still...

Jenn, thanks for returning the favor. And unless I love the stuff, I don't care too much about the health benefits <smile>.
